Over 100 SWE members from across the country will soon be traveling to Washington to talk about SWE’s mission and legislation that can help push us forward. Bills discussed in previous years include the STEM Restart Act, Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, Paycheck Fairness Act, and many more.

This is an excellent opportunity to meet with your elected official’s office and tell them what YOU want to see. The event includes a half day of training and information sessions with public policy experts, followed by a day of meetings with staff from congressional and senate offices on Capital Hill.

While the event is free to attend, you still have to travel to and stay in Washington D.C to participate. If you plan to attend, you should book your accommodations as soon as possible. Both SWE and SWE Detroit offer travel grants to help with funding:

  • Cathy Pieronek Memorial Public Policy Grant – 2 grants up to $500
  • SWE Detroit Travel Grant – 1 grant up to $250 – application information to come.

Wednesday 3/18 (afternoon) and Thursday 3/19 (all day)

Look out for the sign-up email from SWE HQ the week of February 4th to sign up!
